About This DepartmentPrimarily responsible for engineering design, implementation, integration, and troubleshooting support for telecommunications and data network systems involving electric transmission, distribution, sub-transmission, metering and other grid technologies.
The NE Telecom Engineering Department is focused on telecommunications technology development for National Grid's U.
S.
business.

We are hiring engineers for projects in our NE jurisdiction.
Position SummaryAs an Associate Engineer in the department, you will participate in the specification, design, and implementation of innovative communications and networking technologies for the electric distribution and sub-transmission systems.
Primary areas of responsibility will be focusing on providing telecom engineering support for various grid modernization initiatives and projects.
These could include evaluation of emerging technologies; participation in equipment specification and selection; performing end-to-end solution design including validation and testing of communications systems.
You will work under close supervisor by senior engineers/managers to develop the technical and organizational skills necessary to move up in rank following our Engineering Progression Framework.
You will work closely with our other engineering departments to provide communications solutions for projects assigned to those groups.
You will also assist in development of long-term strategies for fiber network infrastructure and field area networks supporting grid controls, monitors, meters and other fixed and mobile devices.
Key Accountabilities Perform routine engineering work requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out engineering tasks.
Complete assignments that are designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities while being guided by engineering manager and/or more senior engineers.
Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources, and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in line with policies and processes.
Actively engage our IT and third-party communications partners in the development of end-to-end communications solutions.
Build and nurture relationships with industry peers and other external industry influencers to keep abreast of technical innovations and their potential benefits.
Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited engineering school.
Completion of Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is preferred.
Course work that includes at least some of the following technologies:
RF fundamentals and data communication systems including point to point, point to multipoint and mesh topologies.
Private and public LTE networks Fiber optic and microwave transport systems Leased wired and wireless services Computer network routing/switching, cloud services Co-op or work experience involving field wireless communication networks is preferred.
Basic understanding of program management tasks and the technical skills required to achieve.
General verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interface and communicate with people at all levels across the organization.
Must be able to work overtime and/or holidays, nights, weekends as needed.
Must be able to travel overnight outside the normal work area.
Your RewardsSalary:
$85,000 - $100,000 a yearThis position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
