POSITION
Summary:
Based at our research and development center located in Northborough, MA, the position reports to the Director of EHS, the Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator will provide support of Environmental Health and Safety standards and programs across the company.
# Duties:
MAJOR DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.
Development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of Environmental Health and Safety programs, ensuring compliance with Federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Perform and/or oversee monitoring for permits and personal monitoring.
Maintain OSHA lab standards, hazard communication program and conduct chemical inventory for the company at multiple locations
Perform routine industrial and hazardous waste management activities such as waste inventories, vendor scheduling and waste haul oversight, and manifest tracking and filing.
Maintain various reporting systems.
Conduct investigations and root cause analysis and may make resolution recommendations.
Implement corrective/preventative actions and continuous improvement activities as directed.
Assist in and conduct job hazard analysis
Research and identify applicable industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Participate in EHS site audits, inspections and routine, implementing/ tracking corrective actions, and monitoring trends in results of audit activities.
Maintain EHS files and records. Modifies and implements compliance tracking programs and recordkeeping systems.
Assist in the development of technical documents including EHS procedures, inspections, and guidance documents.
Inform personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing necessary information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with health and safety regulations.
Respond to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate
safety/security concerns.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience/Knowledge/Skills
Must possess requisite knowledge and be able to perform job duties.
Minimum of 4 years EHS technician related experience in environmental, health and safety.
Familiarity with local, state, and Federal EHS regulations, including Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and Federal OSHA regulations.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Effective organization and planning skills.
Knowledge of Process Management Safety preferred.
Ability to read blueprints, architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents preferred.
Ability to calibrate and use test equipment such as LEL meters and other ambient air monitoring exposure devices preferred
Computer Skills
Demonstrated ability to use standard office software programs, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and audiovisual presentations.
Education
AAS or BS in Environmental Technology, Chemistry, Engineering or related field
Licenses/Certifications
Required
Valid Driver's License.
Preferred (one or more of the following:)
RCRA and Hazardous Waste Management Certification
40 Hour HAZWOPER
OSHA 10 hour or 30 hour Certification
Occupational Supervisor (STS); Associate Loss Control Manager (ALCM); Associate Safety Professional (ASP); or Certified Associate Industrial Hygienist (CAIH)
Physical Requirements
Work from ladders and scaffolds at heights up to 30 feet.
Lifting up to 35 pounds.
Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking significant distances.
Work may be performed within extreme temperature ranges.
