Job Description

Position Summary:

The Registered Data Entry Pharmacy Technician answers incoming phone calls; ensures necessary communications are provided to patients; extensive phone and data entry skills required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Answer in-bound calls and assisting customers with pharmacy related services

  2. Maintaining current patient profiles

  3. Enter new prescriptions into patient profiles

  4. Obtain client information by answering telephone calls; interviewing clients; verifying information

  5. Contact insurance companies for third party inquiries

  6. Correct and resubmit rejected Third Party claims in accordance with individual insurance plan requirements in an efficient manner to receive payment

  7. Complete prior authorizations with attention to detail and accuracy, to then have the prepared prior authorization reviewed by a clinical pharmacist

  8. Obtain and complete prescription transfers to and from other pharmacies

  9. Provide customers with courteous, friendly, fast and efficient service

  10. Contact patients to schedule medication deliveries and verify correct address information


Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize headset and computer terminal and navigate through multiple systems to input and retrieve information.

  2. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and training activities

  3. Work efficiently both individually and within a team to accomplish required tasks

  4. Maintain and improve quality results by adhering to standards and guidelines; recommending improved procedures


Required Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent

  2. Minimum one year of Pharmacy Technician or relative work experience

  3. RPhT Pharmacy Technician License or National (CPhT) Pharmacy Technician Certification

  4. CPhT position requires a minimum of twenty (20) CE hours in pharmacy-related subject matter during each two (2) year recertification cycle

  5. Previous data entry experience and ability to type 30wpm+

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
